Bumper year

This would have been a much less bumper post if the first week back at work hadn't made me such a grumbly moo that I was not going near a PC once I escaped the desk. However a weekend can do a lot to perk up this beast so here are my 2009 crafts and one that just sneaks in from 2008.

First the imposter. I saw a granny square bag on sale at Zara. It was quite big, too big for me - if there is space I fill it and then hurt my back- but I liked the idea and knew that it would make a tidy little dent in my stash in time for the sales. So here is my interpolation. It is a little smaller than the Zara one and the colour scheme is more muted but as a first attempt at Granny squares I am happy with it:

I then went sale crazy and bought a digital camera and so began the saga that was creating a camera case. The moral of this tale is certainly measure at least once, and then cut:

1) This one was a very snug but just about fit. It is made of Corduroy and lined with some scrap cotton I had squirreld away
The only thing wrong was that the case had no padding and I am a bit clumsy so really wanted something a bit more protective than this so...

2) fleece lined cotton purse:

This is not an action shot, this is as far in as I can get the camera. Far to small by about 3cm, which for an 11cm purse is an achievement.

3) Fleece lined again with cotton outer. No zip this time just a corduroy tab. It works, the camera fits but I was still not in love with it.

4) I am not sure where this idea came from. I have a stash of Hama beads left over from christmas Mario coasters and this stuck me as an idea. It is a camera case in the shape of a camera:

I spent and inordinate amount of time trying to decide what 'picture' to put on the back. Flowers was the most succesful.

Sides, these are meant to look like camera film sprockets and though they are not 100% successful I love them.

I love it and find myself looking at it adoringly far too much....
