Professional Penny?

On Tuesday I went to a Arts and Older People's networking event. I am currently running a community quilting project in conjunction with the Courtyard and this was my first event in this role. I was pretty nervous. This whole project has been an amazing opportunity for me but it is still the first time I have done anything like this. I had that all too familiar worry that someone was going to figure out I didn't really know what I was doing and kick me out. The first dilemma was clothes. In my old grown up life, my job was centred around problem solving, meeting people and persuading them that change was a good thing (even if it wasn't 100% what they wanted). Lots and lots of networking. I was good at it and I needed a bit of that Professional Penny yesterday. I went for a classic work PP look, in fact so classic I don't think I have ever worn this outfit outside a work setting

I put this outfit on, looked in the mirror and I felt like a professional. I felt like I was ready to discuss process and implement change. The trouble is that isn't who Professional Penny is any more. When I graduate I am going to be in the Arts. I left that process & project life behind when I ran away to art school. I came away from the networking event full of ideas and plans for the project, but also with the distinct feeling that as I approach this last semester of college and the Real World is getting closer I need to readjust my ideas of Professional Penny so I don't find myself falling back where I was 3 years ago. Maybe next time I'll rock something a bit more like this:
